DTN COMMENTS: Live bids are now on the table in all areas this morning, but
those bids are going to have to improve substantially if they are to meet
current asking prices of around $143 plus in the South, Northern asking
prices are still not fully established. Packer inquiry should improve as the
day progresses. Beef cutouts are expected to be lower with light to moderate
box movement.

The Fed Cattle Exchange Auction today listed a total of 1,868 head (TX 1,727
head, KS 141 head), none of which actually sold, as they did not meet the
reserve prices, that ranged from $140 to $141. Opening prices ranged from
$137.50 to $138, high bids ranged from $138 to $139.
